Matua Lands & Legends Syrah 2014
Matua is the birthplace of New Zealand sauvignon blanc, but this wine proves the estate isn’t a one-hit wonder. It’s a robust young syrah with plenty of perfume and excellent structure. The nose combines lavender, blueberries, plums, cinnamon spice and toasty notes, flowing into a powerfully flavoured, gamy mouthful of chewy texture and lingering complex aftertaste.
