Tirohana Estate

Setting
Look for the lovely white villa-style buildings just after the Omapere Rd turnoff. The beautifully manicured vineyard might be just opposite the Martinborough cemetery, but there’s an explosion of life here at Tirohana.

Things To Know
Owned by Raymond and Linda Thompson and managed by their daughter Saranne (who doubles as head chef) and son-in-law Toby, Tirohana hums with activity at all hours. Whether it’s an intimate lunch by the fire or a huge wedding, Tirohana has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The wines are only available via the cellar door, and ask to sneak a peek behind the counter into a room containing a film and television prop museum, courtesy of Raymond’s screen-industry life.

Our Picks
The Heritage Special Reserve Pinot Noir and Thirteen Rows chardonnay are compulsory sips.

Tirohana Estate Restaurant
Using sustainable, free-range ingredients, the restaurant has earned annual Beef and Lamb Excellence Awards, and the homemade soups in particular are sensational.
