Craggy Range Sophia Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay 2011
A deeply flavoured and complete wine, CraggyRange’s flagship Sophia 2011 is rich enough to sit well with slow-braised oxtail. Blended from 60 per cent merlot with cabernets and petit verdot, ripe and juicy dark-plum characters are its heart, with subtle marzipan and coffee-like touches adding interest. Velvety and supple in the mouth, it is kept in mellow balance by very fine tannins.
